1. What is Early Intervention?
Early Intervention is a support system for children from birth to age 6 who may have developmental delays or disabilities. Services are provided in natural environments using play-based strategies.
2. What is Intake?
Intake is the first step. Referrals are made to BabyNet (0–2) or BHDD-OIDD (3–6). An intake coordinator gathers information and determines eligibility.
3. How do I know if my child qualifies?
Eligibility is based on a developmental evaluation across areas such as communication, motor skills, and social interaction.
4. Are services free?
Yes. All services are provided at no cost through South Carolina’s BabyNet and BHDD-OIDD programs.
5. Where are services provided?
Services are delivered in your child’s natural environment—home, daycare, or community settings.
